Election a very special Honorary Member.
On Monday 21st August 2006 at a regular meeting of the Club held at the Timbers Resturant in Fincham, the President Alan Henry inducted Gillian Shephard, The Rt. Hon Baroness Shephard of Northwold JP DL, as an Honorary Member
In reply Baroness Shephard said how delighted she was to be invited into the Swaffham Club and into the Rotary Movement. She had been a great supporter of the principles of Rotary International in the past and was keen to help the Swaffham Club in as many ways as possible. She alsopaid tribute to Rotary for all the good work that they do locally and around the world. In an amusing after dinner speech Baroness Shephard outlined the origins of power in politics and related it back to the power or otherwise, of the Club President.
Other Honorary Members elected earlier this year include Past Rotary Club Members Jim Kittle, Dick Emmett and Derek Wright.
