The Rotary Club of East Grinstead Meridian organised a Community Health Event on Saturday 28th September 2019 in Sackville School, East Grinstead.
The theme of the event was ‘Fit for Life
Showcase’: up to 40 health, wellbeing & fitness organisations were represented on the day. Its aim was to help members of the community to
improve their awareness of existing or potential health & fitness
issues, and to help understand how to manage these issues and adopt a more
healthy lifestyle, by giving direct advice and support, and by making available
contact details for more specialist support.
The event was supported by East Grinstead Town
Council, Mid Sussex District Council, West Sussex County Council, and Horsham
& Mid Susses Clinical Commissioning group.
Entertainments and active wellbeing
demonstrations were laid on during the day, and healthy (and maybe
no-so-healthy!) refreshments were available throughout the day.
Everyone in the community was invited through an extensive advertising campaign: the event was free, and was aimed at all adults whether fit or unfit, managing a condition or worried about their health, or just interested in health issues or wanted to get involved in supporting community health organisations.
The event was highly successful with a steady stream of inerested visitors throughout the day.
