Salford with Swinton Rotary Club are selling two unique craft gins to raise funds to End Polio.
"Rotary Salford with Swinton’s gin project has had a purple patch in October and the results are simply the ‘Bees Knees’
During
the month we have supplied 213 bottles of gin to all parts of the UK
including Ireland and requests by Clubs and now Inner Wheel for a
‘visit’ to tell the gin story continue to come in.
This
amazing support to donate funds to the End Polio Now campaign ( nothing
to do with the unique taste of our craft gin ) has resulted in nearly
£1300 being raised. To cap off the month the Club held an informal
on-line Passionately Purple Gin staying in night on 31st October and
coupled it to Halloween. The event raised a further £150 for EPN.
Over
30 joined in, covering five Districts and enjoyed an insight into the
development of Sandgrown Spirits by our ‘ gin mistress’ and Associate
Member Sara Dewhurst who also organised a gin based quiz. The evening
ended with a bespoke on-line bingo devised by Rotarian Joy Chatters with
four lucky winners.
Gin Meister Herbert Chatters gave the
vote of thanks and remarked that the gin journey since “ Sara met
Herbert” has been phenomenal.
From July 472 bottles have been sold and the total since its inception is now over 1700.
President
Bill Shepherd In welcoming Sara thanked neighbouring President Phil Day
from Crompton and Royton for their order of 12 bottles which took the
total to over the 200 mark.
It’s a tonic to be on the receiving end of such tremendous support from our colleagues in District and throughout these Islands."
