An evening with Mr Sankey and Mr Moody
Ira D Sankey was the author of "Sacred Songs and Solos," one of the most popular hymn books in the English language,
His gospel singing and partnership with evangelist Dwight Lyman Moody had a powerful impact on the English-speaking world of the late nineteenth century.
Many of today's much loved hymns have their origins in the rallies and campaigns undertaken by the two men in Britain and the United States, 'reducing the population of hell by a million souls.'
Moody was clearly the guiding light and visionary for the evangelistic endeavors, but he needed Sankey's songs to attract crowds and set the stage for his message.
The special evening at Temple Methodist Church in Taunton on Saturday 26 October 2019 at 7.00 pm will combine their story and songs to provide a great evening's entertainment with plenty of opportunity to participate. Bring your friends and benefit the local charities supported by Taunton Rotary Club via the retiring collection.
