Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Special Olympics Athletics event which is part of the Special Olympics GB Summer of Sports Series

Special Olympics, is part of the Olympic family, and provides year-round sporting opportunities for children and adults with learning disabilities.

The athletics event which you have taken an interested in volunteering at, will attract over 200 athletes, from all over Wales and England, for the main athletics competition. As part of the larger event Disability Sports Wales will be running INSPORT sessions for the general public to attend and try out various sports which Special Olympics has on its programme.
 
There will also be a festival field at the events for athletes and their families to enjoy some fun time in-between their races.  Our festival tent, will be filled with dance workshops, circus skills workshop and music. There will also be an inflatable assault course will be on the field.

The event will be held at the Queensway Sports Centre, Caia Park , Wrexham, LL13 8UH, and  will run from 8.30am -7pm in the evening, with set up time 8am-9.30am and 6.30pm -7pm to take down time.

There will be a volunteers meeting at 8.45am in the volunteer tent next to the green porta cabin.

We are aware that the days programme is long and we appreciate that some people will have time constraints. Can we ask if you cannot committee to full day’s program can you indicate to us via email the times you are available?

The volunteer’s package for ones that sign up for a full days programme will include an events T shirt, lunch and drinks.
