About us

Welcome to the website of the Rotary Club of Batley, West Yorkshire. Founded in 1946, The Rotary Club of Batley is proud to have served the community of Batley and district for 75 years, as well as making a significant contribution to international projects.

The club is always seeking new members. The club now numbers 8 members, five men and three ladies, plus one Honorary member, aged upwards of 55. We would love to hear from others who would like to make a contribution to the local community, and to the wider global community. Please e-mail our Secretary, Patricia Taylor at ptaylor970@hotmail.com

During the past few years, we have been involved in the following local projects:  Contact the Elderly, giving monthly tea parties for elderly people who are isolated or lonely; Guide Dogs for the Blind, this year funding the Club's third guide dog; Helping with Literacy in local schools, by listening to youngsters read, and the following projects worldwide: Polio Plus, helping to eradicate fully polio throughout the world.

We also sponsor two Interact clubs in local senior schools, and three RotaKids clubs in local junior schools, the students really enjoy these meetings as they run them themselves, with a little help from a Rotarian and a school staff member.

2020 has been a particularly trying year, with Covid-19 preventing face to face meetings, resulting in fund raising coming to a complete standstill.

2021 is our 75th Birthday as a Rotary club in Batley and we were all hoping to have a big celebration, but that won't happen now, unless we delay that until we regain some semblance of normality with the risk of contracting the virus severely diminished.
