About us
Blackburn & District Vision Statement:
"Bringing the Gift of Rotary to our Community & the World"
President Barry Craigmile
Welcomes you
to our Club Website
We are a friendly team of individuals with talents channelled toward helping our Community, raising money for good causes singularly or with other local clubs and larger fundraising projects for Rotary International. Our meetings are informal, friendly and fun.
Our events are ambitious for a young small club but our team work makes them happen.
Together we empower youth through programmes such as RYLA and Rota Kids. Improve health by providing shelter and clean water through Shelterbox, and Aquabox.
We contribute to Rotary Foundation where one of its initiatives is to promote peace through training at its Peace Centres.
We advance our communities in all corners of the Globe through fundraising events for community initiatives at home and abroad.

The Rotary Club of Blackburn and District was officially recognised by Rotary International on the 28th June 2012 by receiving our Charter which we celebrated with a Dinner on Saturday the 13th of October 2012 at The Menzies Hotel, Dyce.
Blackburn & District Rotary Club Charter Dinner
Prior to our Charter Dinner we were encouraged and supported by Kintore Rotary Club; our Mother Club, as well as many other Clubs and individuals. We held a Dinner at The Leys Hotel, Blackburn; where we hold our meetings. Westhill Rotarian, Bill Leslie welcomed our committed and enthusiastic members to the Rotary Family.

In 1875 the outlook tower on the Tappie was built by Dr William Henderson to commemorate the first landing of Queen Victoria in Aberdeen during September 1848. Dr Henderson took parties of schoolchildren from Aberdeen for picnics on the hill and this probably led to the custom of "Tappie Sunday" on the first Sunday in May. |
We are always happy to welcome new members to help our new club can provide the support to its community and beyond.
