We are very pleased that some meetings will recommence at The Bell from October onwards but numbers will be limited and adequate social distancing and ventilation will be in place. Where events involve partners and friends, it is likely that these will continue to be via Zoom or at a venue that can accomodate larger numbers.
Please note that anyone planning to attend any meeting must pre book via the secretary. Regretfully, we cannot accept any visitors who have not given the secretary prior notice. Even then, numbers may be limited due to the reduced space available.
Also please note that the SMILE Cafe is currently closed on Thursdays but, we hope to be able to reopen in the autumn and at a new location in the town.
Meanwhile, our sincere thanks to everyone for their understanding during this potentially difficult period and we hope to get back to 'normal' as soon as we can.
Why not think about starting a new club with friends and colleagues.
Rotary is for everyone both young and old, men and women. You could think about getting together with people of your own age and becoming a group that gets involved in the local community, or overseas, with projects that can make a real difference to peoples lives. At the same time, having lots of fun. Equally, you don't have to adopt all of the Rotary structure or systems and can be a flexible and independent team that can rely on the support of the Saxmundham club, meeting when, where and how you like. Why not contact us to see how you could make this happen and what a difference you could make.
Once again, and in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Woodbridge Deben, we have arranged this popular event for Year 6 pupils (10 - 11 year olds) in the local area. It normally attracts around 900 pupils over the week, and this year, it will take place between the 18th and 25th October. However, instead of taking place at The Riverside Centre, Stratford St Andrew, due to Covid concerns, it will be a Virtual event for the first time. Full details are available on the Club 'What We Do' page.Community Small Grants Scheme
The Community Small Grants Scheme, for people in our local area, has been in operation for some time and we have been able to help with financial support for some very worthy projects.
Please go to the 'What We Do' drop-down box and select 'Community & Vocational Projects' to get more details about the scheme and how to apply.
Sadly, our 38th event had to be cancelled, and due to the ongoing COVID - 19 pandemic and other course restrictions and costs, we have reluctantly decided that we can no longer run this annual event. The Heritage Coast Run / Walk has been hugely successful for almost forty years and raised well over £500,000 for a variety of charities. It had been our Club's major fundraising event of the year as well as being a huge social occasion. We are currently exploring other opportunities to raise funds for the many charities and organisations that we are involved with. Meanwhile, we would like to sincerely thank everyone who has either taken part or provided support during the last forty years and helped to make it so successful.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) legislation came into force on 25th May 2018. It is EU law but also become law in the UK on 25th May 2018 (regardless of BREXIT having taken place) and will replace the Data Protection Act 1998. The Club will ensure that it is fully compliant with the new legislation.
