The Rotary Club of Battle has served the town and its community since 1956 when it was first formed and has contributed in many ways to supporting deserving causes. The Club has supported its Senior Citizens, Battle Memorial Halls, local youth organisations, schools, charities and St Michael's Hospice in organising the 1066 Walk and is proud of its commitment and service to Battle town and its people.
Rotary Clubs like Battle rely on sustained recruitment to ensure there are sufficient active members and sadly over the past few years not enough new members have joined to take over from the stalwarts who have given so much of their time and energy to good causes.
The Club now finds itself in the situation where it no longer has the human resources and capability to continue with its charitable work for those in need and regrettably it has come to conclusion that it will have to close at the end of June.
I would like to thank the good people of Battle and the neighbouring villages for their generosity and support for helping us to achieve so much for local charities over the years. I wish you all the very best in these difficult times and look forward to us all being able to return to normal life as soon as we have seen the worst of COVID-19 over.
