Epsom Rotary is about community, charity, fun and friendship. We meet
We hold social events throughout the year and get directly involved in projects, both in the local community and internationally. We also fund raise to donate money to our chosen local charities and in some cases internationally.
Our monthly evening meetings have featured local authors, musicians, local charities and sometimes UK charities.
We follow the Rotary motto of Service above Self whilst enjoying fun and friendship along the way.
Each year the club is involved in a range of local community events. We ran the Epsom and Ewell Borough Family Fun Day for 6 years with Ewell Rotary which has now changed to be Epsom and Ewell Community Fayre which is also planned for next September. There are gardening sessions at The Old Moat Garden Centre throughout the year, we run a local allotment with Rotary Club of Ewell to help the Veterans and we run Youth competitions such as Young Musician and Young Chef and Young Artist.
Our largest fund-raising activity has to be the Street Collections with Santa and Tilly the Train at Christmas when the local children can be found on the streets waiting for Santa and his train!
This year our social calendar has included quizzes, race nights, a ball and a host of other activities. We also have the opportunity to compete against other Rotary Clubs in a variety of different sports such as snooker, badminton and ten pin bowling.
Last year we donate £12,000 for local charities and we will do our best this coming year in spite of Covid-19 restrictionst year. We gifted a seat to Epsom Hospital, Samsung Galaxy pads to help isolated patients and much facecream and PPE. We continued supporting the AMECA clinic in Malawi and money to chariies such as PSDS, the local Guide companies and many others.
Our club President last Rotary year (2020/21) was Clive Richardson and we thank him for a great year and some innovative events such as a Zoom Gin Tasting and a Zoom murder mystery evening. We even raised money through a series of competitions such as best dressed Christmas Tree
Our club President this Rotary year commencing 1st July 2021 is Harry Corben. This will be Harry's third time as president and we look forward to supporting Harry in taking our club forward.
