Rotary Pembrey & Burry Port was chartered in November 1971 as a daughter club the Llanelli Rotary Club.
Having had an initial meeting earlier that year with the then District Extension Officer, Jack Cross, DC Thomas, Dr Leslie Williams and Ken Morgan showed their interest in forming Rotary Pembrey & Burry Port. Together with a few friends, meetings were held in the Cambrian Hotel in Burry Port and the new club was formed. From those early days in 1971, the club still enjoys the company of several of its founder members.
The venue changed a few times over the years, meeting at places such as The Goodig Hotel and The Gwenllian Court Hotel, Kidwelly before meeting once again at The Ashburnham Hotel, Pembrey.
In 1975 Rotary Pembrey & Burry Port Rotaract Club was formed with initially over fifty members and this club helped form the Llanelli Rotaract Club underlining our relationship with our own mother club.
We meet on Tuesdays at 18.30 for19.00(No meeting following a bank holiday) Ashburnham Rd.
