About us

President Ray

A Message from our President, Ray Edwardson.

I am delighted to be leading Rotary Newton-le-Willows into this new Rotary Year which, I hope, will be exciting and productive – and, of course, fun!

First of all, I must say a big ‘Thank You’ and ‘Well Done’ to our outgoing President, Craig Roberts, for his leadership throughout the past year. I have invited Craig to remain a part of our leadership team and to head up a new Environmental Working Group which, it is hoped, will develop over the coming months and years.

Our Service Teams have put together their plans for some interesting and, perhaps, challenging projects and activities for the coming year with a strong emphasis on our young people, both here and overseas.

In addition to continuing our annual ‘Young Achiever’ Awards to our Year 6 pupils, and our popular youth competitions, we are about to embark upon longer term commitments to support both the Newton Boys’ and Girls’ Club and Hope Academy over the next three years. Internationally, we will continue to support the Newclare Primary School in South Africa in what will be the second phase of the project which we started in 2023-24.

These are just some of the inspirational things that we do, and the excellent causes that we at Rotary Newton-le-Willows support.

Perhaps most exciting of all is our plan to secure the future of Rotary in our community by setting up two new groups; one of Associate Members – individuals who would like to help us without the commitment of full Rotary membership; and an Interact group – Rotary for teenagers - in partnership with two of our local High Schools.

To do all this and more, we need volunteers who are passionate about our community and about helping others; we need YOU! If you feel that you could spare some time and would like to help us to make a difference to the lives of others by sharing your expertise and new and progressive ideas, please get in touch with us at secretary.nlewrotary@gmail.com; we are waiting to hear from you! All are welcome!

Ray Edwardson
President : 2024-25
