The Rotary Club of Taunton is once again proud to provide sponsorship for what is thought to be the largest Inclusive Disability Ball in the south west. Sadly the event was cancelled in 2020 as a result of the Coronarirus restrictions, but it is hoped that the event will go ahead on the revised date of 10th March 2021. The last event held in 2019 was attended by the then Mayor of Taunton, Fran Smith and we hope that the impact of Coronavirus will not impact on the re-scheduled date. Oake Manor Golf Club will again host the event which was originally inspired by staff at Green Days Centre, an organisation working to support and train adults with learning disabilities to gain confidence, get into work and maintain independent living.
The then President of the Taunton Rotary Club, the Revd Tony Cox attended the event in 2019 alongside wife Elaine, fellow Rotarians, their partners and friends. President Tony opened the event, urging all to have a fabulous time, which they certainly did, with dancing and music for all to enjoy. President Tony said, ‘We had a 'ball'. What a great event for everyone. I can't recall when I have had so much fun and this event is the perfect platform for adults and young people with learning disabilities to gain confidence and have fun. I feel sure this sell out event will help create a positive and inclusive attitude towards those with learning disabilities and the Rotary Club of Taunton is proud to provide support’.
DJ Dave Lee and Big Boy-Band REUNION have commmitted to continue to support the event despite its delay and participants will be able to enjoy a two course meal and have fun in the Party Booth with fireworks and pyrotechnics by Firestorm.
Both Oake Manor and Green Day’s Care Centre agree that without the support of the Rotary Club of Taunton, the ticket price at just £20 would be out of the reach of many people.
We will up-date this page should it be necessary to cancel or postpone this event again due to the continuing Coronavirus safety measures.
