Polio + Purple Crocuses

commemoration of 30 years action to eradicate Polio

Kingsbridge in Bloom

The Rotary Clubs in Kingsbridge are celebrating a most amazing achievement. Initiated by Rotary International it is 30 years since the drive to eradicate polio from the world began. Polio-endemic countries have dropped from 125 to just 2 with over 2.5 billion children immunised. KIB is helping to plant purple crocuses as part of a Rotary and RHS partnership reflecting shared values of community involvement. Purple is significant as it is the colour of the dye used to mark the finger of a child who has been immunised and protected from this terrible disease.
