Lunchtime Meeting - 12.45pm - Business Meeting with ADG Dave Roscoe

Mon, Mar 9th 2015 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Business meeting with ADG and President of Liverpool Exchange Dave Roscoe.

Today's Club Business meeting was attended by Dave Roscoe, Assistant Governor District 1180 and President of Liverpool Exchange Club together with his wife Rtn Margaret Roscoe.  The meeting served as the Club's mini-assembly and ADG Dave gave an encouraging talk to the Club on his perception of the health of our Club and encouraged us to continue the battle against polio that Rotary is waging successfully albeit with dificulty in Pakistan.

President David Gordon also welcomed members of the Rotary Club of Abingdon David's former club where he had also been President.  The party of four were Peter Fulk, President Abingdon Rotary Club (and wife Theresa) and PP Michael Bell (and wife Barbara).  David presented greetings and a banner to Peter from our Club.

Finally, after all the formality, the Oswestry School Youth Speaks team, who missed the Club competition back in November, kindly came to Club with their teacher Alan Biles-Lidell to present the talk that they had prepared.

The team were:

Speaker: George Tomley
Chair: George Shuter
Vote of Thanks: Bethan Walford

George encouraged us that the voting age should be lowered to include 16 and 17 year olds.   After an initial informal negative vote of the Club members, some of us were persuaded by George's assured delivery of his subject and answers to questions and were swayed to change our minds!

All in all, a very busy meeting!
