Youth Service

The youth committee work with local junior schools providing them with a platform to compete in various competitions at district and national level.  The club has had notable success in recent years in the young writer and young photographer categories.

Rotary youth leadership award (RYLA) is perhaps the committee’s flagship. Each year the club sponsors a young person aged 18 -25 to attend the district RYLA residential course held at Grafham water centre. The purpose of the course is to provide and present an opportunity for young people to experience, discover, identify, discuss and consider the patterns of leadership current in society. To observe and recognise the qualities of leadership in other people and in themselves through activities which are challenging physically, intellectually and socially. All our RYLA participants have gained skills, awareness, and self-confidence and express an overwhelming enjoyment of the course.
