Race Night

Sat 22nd September 2018 at 7.00 pm - Sat 30th September 2017 - 10.00 pm

A night at the Races at Medstead Village Hall. Fish & Chip supper.

This is not a collection of monitors showing races. Not that old hat. This is live action where the horses may be made of wood, but the jockeys can be anyone at the night, you, me, your sister, your brother. This is non-stop laughter with betting on the side. Bet on yourself, your friend, your spouse or anyone who looks tough enough. Go for it.

What a great night this is. Excellent fun.

A night of fun at Medstead Village Hall, transformed into a racecourse for the night. There are nine races on the 'Rotary Race Night' card, including a winning jockeys race-off. The going iss good and the six horses compete valiantly, although somewhat woodenly. Supporters of the competing 'jockeys' are vocal and highly partisan, and Chief Steward Mike 'Sparks' Sanders may have to adjudicate on some tight photo-finishes. All winning owners are awarded prizes. The proceedings are to support Rotary International's End Polio Now campaign, which has achieved great success globally. Organiser and MC Len Smith says he expects the evening to raise over a thousand pounds for the charity, which with support and matched funding from the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation, would yield between £3-4,000 for the anti-polio campaign.
