A WARM EMBRACE FOR NEWTON COMMUNITY CENTRE

Our club has provided funding towards the installation of a new boiler to provide warmth for the winter months.

Newton Community Centre, Park Road south

At the core of Newton-le-Willows, Newton Community Centre has been a sanctuary of connection and care for 38 years, delivering inclusivity and support to locals of all ages. With nine dedicated trustees, it flourishes thanks to 54 volunteers, whose ages span from just weeks old to 92 proof of truly multi-generational community spirit.

Last year alone:

  • The Centre welcomed a staggering 214,000 visits, a testament to its vital role in daily life.

  • Volunteers gave over 13,000 hours, a colossal commitment from a tight-knit team.

  • A variety of 42 weekly classes and groups from dance and Tai Chi to employability support, craft clubs, children’s activities, and befriending initiatives made something available for everyone.

Beyond learning, the Centre nourishes both body and soul. It hosts community events like Christmas breakfasts, Halloween parties, and tea dances, offers affordable bacon butties on Thursday mornings, and runs a “Pay It Forward” board for café visitors to spread kindness one cuppa at a time.

It also provides vital services like Citizens Advice drop-ins every Tuesday morning, Dementia Café, Wargrave Big Read literacy sessions, children’s summer playschemes filled with themed fun, and exercises, befriending, and support groups funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

That’s why the Rotary Club of Newton le Willows has proudly donated £1,000 toward a new boiler ensuring this warm haven stays comfortable and welcoming for all who enter.
