Members of the Rotary Club of Nuneaton were recently treated to an inspiring talk by fellow member Sara Mudhar, who shared her incredible journey of endurance challenges undertaken in support of cancer awareness and research.
Sara, a passionate advocate for cancer research, recounted her first experience participating in the Moon Walk in London back in 2009, an event organized in aid of Walk the Walk. She spoke of the friendships formed along the way and the creative joy she found in designing her own decorative bras for the event. A pharmacist by profession and a florist by passion, Sara enjoys combining creativity with physical endurance challenges.
Her fundraising efforts soon escalated to new heights—literally. Sara and her friends once embarked on an ambitious “5 Marathons in 5 Weeks” challenge across four different cities, pushing themselves to the limit. This challenge ignited a new ambition in Sara: to test whether she could run a full marathon. From there, she went on to participate in world-renowned races such as the New York Marathon and, eventually, the London Marathon.
Yet, even marathons were not enough for Sara. Seeking an even greater challenge, she turned to mountaineering, conquering Everest Base Camp and nearly reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Unfortunately, her Kilimanjaro attempt was halted by the onset of COVID-19, which forced her to turn back when she was just a couple of hours from the summit. Though disappointed, Sara remains undeterred—perhaps a return to Kilimanjaro is in her future?
One of the most admirable aspects of Sara’s mission is her commitment to self-funding all of her challenges. This ensures that every penny raised goes directly to the charities she supports, maximizing the impact of her efforts in the fight against cancer.
Throughout her journey, Sara has been able to count on the unwavering support and understanding of her husband, Mandeep, whose encouragement has been instrumental in her success.
Sara’s talk left her audience both moved and motivated, proving that with determination and resilience, no mountain is too high to climb.
