This presentation will trace the history of pigeon racing in Newmarket since the formation of the Newmarket & District Homing Society in 1924. In particular it will focus on its close historical links to the horseracing industry. It will then be brought up to date by reviewing the changes that have evolved in the sport to make racing pigeons what they are today: “The athletes of the sky.”
