Ayrshire Rotary Golf League 2009

Reports of the Club's activity in the League

30/9/09
Unfortunately ran out of time to arrange final matches and have had to scratch. Will do better next year.

31/8/09
Our next match, against Kilwinning Rotary Club, is due to be played at Barasiie Golf Club on Wednesday 9th Spetember 2009 starting at 4pm. Captain Alex is trying to organise his team so let him know now if you are available.
23/7/09
Finally, at the third time of asking Kilmarnock Rotary's game with Louduon Rotary took place at Louduon Golf Club on Wednesday 22nd July. Kilmarnock's team was made up of President Robin playing with Iain Shaw and Masood Zaidi playing with Alex Steven.
The good news is that each team won a game and therefore a point each. President Robin and Iain Shaw WON  their game handsomely and Alex and Masood LOST their game handsomely.
Iain was playing for the first time in a number of month's, infact he had to find his golf clubs somewhere hidden in his garage. Masood was playing at his home course but local knowledge did not help at all!
Regardless of the result a good time was had by all.
Alex.

The Club's initial outing in this year's Golf League was against Irvine Seagate and resulted in a Eurovision Song Contest type score of 'Nil points'. Truly disappointing, however that score did not really reflect the closeness of the games with the Hugh Smith/Robin Magee partnership only losing at the last hole, having previously been five holes adrift, and their fellow team members Alex Steven and George Miller going down just two and one.

Your captain and selector was less than impressed though and has brought out his big guns for our next encounter against Loudoun on Friday 3rd July. The two Davids - Hill and Johnstone will be on the tee alongside the Captain, together with the relatively unknown Shaw (Iain). Surely they will be able to put a mark on the board! Not the divot variety either. Watch this space for up to the minute news. (Not so much as a divot! The lightning was bouncing off the fairways. To be re-arranged. We get to watch Andy Murray instead - that's what I call a good decision - shame about AM's result though.)

Re-arranged match to take place on Wednesday 22nd July tee-off at 4.30pm, the team being Masood Zaidi, Robin Magee, Alex Steven and Iain Shaw.

Captain Steven is on the lookout for new (and old) talent to bolster his limited resources so make sure he's aware of your putting and driving skills. There are at least two more matches to play against Hunterston and a very keen Kilwinning side who are always in the hunt for the trophy.
