South African Visit - December 2006

Photographs taken at Rorke's Drift by Peter Davis on his recent trip to South Africa.

The first photograph shows the site of the Battle of Isandlwana which took place on the same day but before the battle of Rorke's Drift. The British army were routed and the white cairns denote where the soldiers bodies were found and subsequently buried. The second and third photographs show what was the hospital at Rorke's Drift where the first part of the battle took place. The building has been restored and is now a museum.
