Kickstart

Kickstart Trust (Bishop's Stortford)Ltd.

For the past 15 years, the Rotary Club of Bishop's Stortford has been engaged in a community project in partnership with the local Methodist Church.  That project is the Kickstart Trust (Bishop's Stortford) Ltd. known locally as Stortford Kickstart.  It was founded initially by the partnership in 1994 as an informal meeting place where individuals could share problems related to redundancy and lack of work and talk through possible changes in career.  Since those early days it has expanded its role, services and facilities.  It specialises in the preparation of CVs, interview techniques (including mock interviews), job search and career changes, enabled by the provision of PCs, with internet broadband, printers, photocopier and telephone as well as local and national newspapers.  It is now a registered charity, respected far and wide for its professionalism, and has achieved a considerable degree of success.  It is staffed solely by volunteers, comprising some dozen advisers, receptionists and trustees.  Four of its members are Rotarians.  The premises and utilities are provided by the church at no cost.

Stortford Kickstart has had almost 7000 attendances since it first opened its doors.
