Rotary Club support for Dr Kershaws Hospice, Royton

Dr Kershaw's Hospice Liaison Group

Over the years, the Rotary Club of Crompton & Royton has forged close links with Dr Kershaw's Hospice, Royton.

The Hospice Movement, although providing essential services for patients suffering terminal illness and their families, remains heavily dependent upon volunteers and fundraising support. Members of the Club contribute both as volunteers and by participating in fundraising events.

Within the grounds of the Hospice is a well developed 'Rotary Club of Crompton & Royton Garden' providing a pleasant and peaceful retreat for patients, relatives and staff.

Amongst various fundraising projects, the Club holds an annual 'Friday Night is our Music Night', in association with the Royal Northern College of Music, which has raised significant funds for the Hospice and been greatly enjoyed by the many who attend this prestigious event.

The Club has also been pleased to help the Hospice purchase items of furniture, furnishings and medical equipment and looks forward to continuing to respond to such requests in the future.

Rotarian Peter Shrigley, who, as a former Chief Executive of the Oldham NHS Trust, was instrumentally involved in the foundation of the Hospice, currently acts as Liaison Officer between the Hospice and the Rotary Clubs within the area.
