Witkoppen Clinic serves a township in Johannesburg. Over recent years it has been supported by the Rotary Club of Newcastle-under-Lyme in partnership with the Rotary Club of Kyalami (District 9400) and has received glucometers, sanitisation and resuscitation equipment.

The clinic recently received an ambulance from the South African authorities to back up its mobile clinic which reaches over half a million people in the townships. Dr Jean Bassett, the Clinic Director, mentioned her concern that neither the mobile clinic (a gift from South African Rotarians) nor the ambulance had any overnight protection from the climatic extremes of South Africa
