2 February 2012 Derek Heron - The Compelling Key

President Rod Jones welcomed another great turnout last week when 37 members of the Rotary Club of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane gathered for their weekly meeting at the Westlands Hotel on in Dunblane.  They were entertained by Derek Heron, a past president of , who gave a talk entitled The Compelling Key.  Derek, having spent 30 years as an entertainer has turned his attentions to coaching individuals and organisations on the techniques of ethical persuasion.  After a most impressive display of reading body language to identify 5 members from simple pictures they had drawn, Derek highlighted the six steps in his approach based around the acronym COMPEL.  Rotarian George Morrison proposed a vote of thanks for the 1982 Scottish Magician of the year after a most stimulating and educating talk. 

There was good news for the club in that Bridge of Allan Primary School, who entered the quiz run locally by the Carse of Stirling Rotary Club, had proved to be victorious under quizmaster and TV historian Neil Oliver.  The school team will now go forward to compete in the next round across the North of Scotland district.  There was further good news from the club curling team who managed to remain unbeaten this season after coming back with a last end double to tie recently against Perth Kinnoul.
