Katie wins Rotary Leadership award

Katie Gough, a pupil of Ysgol Bryn Elian, Old Colwyn was awarded a Rotary Young Leader Award at a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Rhos on Sea.

Katie had been selected to attend the Annual Rotary Young Leader event at Arthog near Dolgellau in August of this year.

She joined with other candidates in a series of challenges over five days which developed team building and communication skills and problem solving in practical outdoor situations. Canoeing, raft building, mountain rescue and shelter construction all featured in the tasks she undertook.

Katie told Rotarians said " The time at Arthog greatly increased my confidence.I faced new challenges everyday and made many new friends."

District Governor, Rotarian John McDowell, congratulated Katie on her excellent presentation to members and presented her with a Rotary Young Leader Award Certificate
