The Youth Committee hopes to run at least 2 activities in 2021/2022.
These are Young Photographer and Youth Speaks (now known as the Debating Competition).
Young Photographer having been run virtually recently, may well operate the same next year as it was effective & easier to do. This will only be possible if the Competition rules do not alter, but the Club would proceed anyway. The costs of this are greatly assisted by sponsorship from Touchwood.
For Youth Speaks, the Covid situation prevented a competition in the last year, either real or virtual. Next year's competition will depend on a return to near normality & importantly, a willingness of Schools to enter teams. Now that Rotary has produced guidelines for the future competition, we are contacting schools & encouraging them to participate. Rtn. Dot Emm is the organiser. Club members will, as usual, attend & help with the event. A date for the event has now been set for 14th February - Happy Valentines Day! Sponsorship from Paragon Banking has in the past been forthcoming. Possible covid restrictions or a lack of sponsorship may require a rethink.
Schools were approached last year to be involved with Young Writer, with no success howwever we will try to get some enthused.
In previous years the Club has helped Tudor Grange Academy & Young Carers with mock interviews. This is a useful service that the Club can offer.
