The New Generation committee, made up from selected members of the Truro Rotary Club, usually meet on a monthly basis. They discuss and implement, if agreed, all aspects affecting youth opportunities whether home or abroad.

ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS (RYLA)
The Rotary Club of Truro is looking to sponsor young people between the ages of 18 and 28 who have aspirations of becoming leaders within their community. Ideally our candidates will already be working within a community organisation and looking to develop to their full potential.
So what is it all about?
The course is run over a week in July. The renowned instructor, Jack Russell and his company Personal Development Coaching ensure that this becomes one of the most memorable weeks of your life.
A reasonable level of fitness is required as the course involves an intensive programme of outdoor activities and tasks aimed at team building skills, conflict resolution, working to deadlines, learning from mistakes, networking and having a good time. In addition to this, through Rotary, we have access to some of the best motivational speakers in the South West.
By the end of the week we hope that you will return inspired and with the skills to improve yourselves and your work within the community.
So how much does all this cost me?
Training Specialists have costed the course out at 4,000 including accommodation, activities, speakers, insurance etc. Our charge is 630 which is usually covered by a combination of employer contribution, sponsorship from your local Rotary Club and in most case personal fund raising. We would be really happy to discuss ways in which we can help you raise the funds.

I am sure that every year you hear glowing testimonials from returning candidates that there is very little that I can say which will surprise you, but I really must explain what a significant impact it has had on my outlook. The challenges presented during the course, from facing fears to dealing with extreme pressure situations, have highlighted to me the importance of keeping a cool head and thinking correctly under pressure. On the other hand the combination of inspirational lectures and the eclectic mix of personalities really reinforced for me that leadership is more than a badge or a job title, it is a state of mind and is not something you can turn on and off. I returned to work yesterday after a few days with my family and can already feel myself approaching everyday situations in a slightly different way. I am sure these marginal gains will have a massive impact on my career
