Support for Salehurst School

The Rotary Club of Battle has provided Salehurst School with funding towards an A Frame adventure building so that the pupils can benefit from open air lessons and activities during the summer months. President Bill Juby had the pleasure of presenting a cheque for £500 to Deputy Head Teacher Kate Robertson along with the reception group of Salehurst School who are already enjoying using the facility.

President Bill remarked that it was a joy to see the well behaved and polite children who thanked us for their new building.President Bill explained that this funding is all part of the club’s commitment to help youngsters reach their full potential.  For many years the Club has encouraged secondary school students to participate in national Rotary youth competitions, particularly those for young speakers and writers and this has been extremely successful.

However, the club wanted to help primary schools as well and decided to offer support to projects which the schools would otherwise find difficult to finance. The Club has set aside £4,000 over a two year period for all the primary schools in the club’s catchment area which includes Battle and the surrounding villages.  Each school is limited to one application during the two year period and the Club will donate up to £500 for matched funding by the school or PTA.  The donation by Battle Rotary to Salehurst CE Primary School is the second of these awards.
