Rotary Youth Summer Camp Draws to a Close
Teenagers from around the world enjoy Nantwich hospitality

Nantwich Monday August 5th 2013:  Young people aged between 16 and 18 from China, Europe and Macau have been enjoying the hospitality of the Rotary Clubs of East Cheshire along with a wide variety of entertainment as part of the Rotary Youth Exchange.

As Rotary Youth Exchange students the young people have been living with host families in Cheshire to learn a new way of living, learn more about themselves, and to improve their English. They have also been excellent ambassadors, teaching people about their country, culture, and ideas and made some good friends in the process.

The Rotary Youth Summer Camp, which began on July 20th came to a successful conclusion at the weekend with a concert given by the young people at The Petty Pool Centre in Northwich.
As well as Northwich, the young people visited the Isle of Man and spent the day at the Nantwich Show where the weather was exactly what they had been expecting of the whole trip!
Said Rotarian Rod Stokes: "These 18 youngsters from 10 different nations came together for the first time in July and immediately started to make friends. Over the fortnight of their trip they were home-hosted for several days before spending a weekend in the Isle of Man and the rest of the time at Petty Pool near Northwich. It was a pleasure to meet and spend time with these young people; they were a credit to their home nations and we learned a great deal about their countries and cultures."
For over 75 years, students and host families have broadened their horizons through the Rotary Youth Exchange. More than 80 countries and over 8,000 students each year participate in the programme.  Over 1.2 million Rotarians in more than 32,000 clubs create the extensive network that provides support for Youth Exchange.
