President's letter

We are delighted to write to you as two long-standing members of Rotary who will be sharing the club presidential duties during the current Rotary year July 2022-June 2023.  We are both 'old hands' (!) in officer roles in Rotary, but we look forward to a year of innovation and change, following changes in society and people's work and social lives.  Our club is a small, friendly club which emphasises both the social and 'service above self' aspects of Rotary.

For those of you who may not know, our club has played an active part in the Sevenoaks community for more than 80 years.  A few years ago, we reorganised our club to make it less formal and more contemporary to reflect our diversifying membership needs. 

One of our major major activities (curtailed in recent years due to Covid 19) is the 10K run, which has been held in Knole Park every March/April. It has been an incredibly successful event for us and the money raised has gone to many local charities. We also run a full programme of community, fundraising and polio awareness activities, many of which are highlighted on other pages of this website. We are also keen to establish community activities which protect the environment, which is a special focus of Rotary International.

Naturally, Rotary is not all about work.  We organise various social events for ourselves and as part of Rotary International we also access a global network of activities and events. A Rotary member is welcome anywhere in the world and many friendships are made this way.

We very much want more people to join us. We meet twice a month for a couple of hours on a Monday evening and we welcome anyone who would like to come along and see what we are about.  We also enjoy sharing activities with other local and international clubs.
