Our Work in the Community
Royal Leamington Spa Rotary serves the local community in many different ways and organises and runs an annual programme of events as well as developing wider links with other local organisations, including schools.
We are always looking out for new initiatives which promote people’s health and wellbeing and help the community. Leamington Spa began as a place where people came for health and renewal and we continue to support the contemporary version of that vision for the town.
Our Programme of Events
Through the
year we deliver a series of events for elderly, disabled or disadvantaged
members of the community.
- boat trip on the river at Stratford
- a concert and tea in the Octagon at St Mary Magdalene’s Church, Lillington,
- a visit to the house and gardens at Charlecote, followed by tea
- holidays for the elderly at Blackpool
- in association with the local Helping Hands initiative we organise Christmas Boxes for children
Our Community Action
- Alzheimer’s Society’s Memory Walk in Leamington
- donated to “Singing for the Brain” session at Brunswick Healthy Living Centre
- agreed to support the Warwickshire Climate Alliance’s proposal for a schools art competition drawing attention to global warming and climate change
The Community Spirit Awards [
One of the highlights of our year is the annual Community Spirit Awards ceremony, which we run in partnership with the Kingsley School. These awards celebrate those who give their time to work in the community.
Members nominate individuals living or working in Warwick District who have shown a significant and sustained contribution to making the lives of others better, safer, healthier and more fulfilled and who might fairly be described as “unsung heroes”.
The event always includes presentations and a guest speaker. We have also been very pleased to welcome the Chair of Warwick District Council, the Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa and the Member of Parliament for Warwick and Leamington to the ceremony.
