Our Work in the Leamington and Local Community

Helping people is what we do

Our Work in the Community:

Royal Leamington Spa Rotary serves the local community in many different ways by organising an annual programme of events as well as developing wider links with other local organisations, including schools

We are always looking out for new initiatives which promote people’s health, their wellbeing and generally helping in the community. Leamington Spa began as a place where people came for their health and we continue to support the contemporary version of that vision for the town

Our Programme of Events:

Throughout the year we run events for the elderly, disabled or disadvantaged members of the community

  • An enjoyable boat trip on the river at Stratford-upon-Avon
  • A concert and afternoon tea in the Octagon at St Mary Magdalene’s Church, Lillington,
  • We pay for a visit to the house and gardens at Charlecote, followed by afternoon tea
  • For many years we have worked in association with the local Helping Hands initiative
  • We organise Christmas Boxes for the children of poorer families

 Our Community Action:

  • We support and take part in the Alzheimer’s Society’s Memory Walk in Leamington
  • Donating to “Singing for the Brain” session at Brunswick Healthy Living Centre organised by the local Alzheimer’s Society staff” with Rotary Club members sitting in as observers from time to time
  • Providing support for the Warwickshire Climate Alliance’s proposal for a schools art competition drawing attention to global warming and climate change

The Community Spirit Awards:

One of the highlights of our year is the annual Community Spirit Awards ceremony, which is run in partnership with Kingsley School. These awards celebrate those who give up their time to work in the community. The main photograph on this page is from the 2021 awards

Members nominate individuals, living or working in the Leamington and Warwick District who have shown a significant and sustained contribution to making the lives of others better, safer, healthier and more fulfilled and who might fairly be described as “unsung heroes”

The event always includes presentations and a guest speaker. We have also been very pleased to welcome the Chair of Warwick District Council, the Mayor of Royal Leamington Spa and the Member of Parliament for Warwick and Leamington to the ceremony

Where is our future in the community?

The Rotary Club are always seeking to be involved with other local charities where there is a mutual sharing of aspirations and goals
