Project to fund pre-school equipment for young children in Chibweya, Malawi

Chibweya is an isolated community in the Ntcheu District of Northern Shire, Malawi. Poor roads mean difficult access. Health and education facilities are scarce, and the literacy rate is very low. The nearest school is 30km away. Long term aim is for a school building, but the community has asked for pre-school learning resources and a classroom. They will provide teachers and nutrition. It was suggested that they start with the pre-school using whatever resources they had. They now need educational, play and learning materials. The community has committed to contribute to subsistence allowances for local teachers, who are young school leavers of secondary education who cannot pursue their education due to poverty, and have volunteered. Pre-schools have been set up in two different villages, meeting under a tree and using available resources
