Post Guy Carnival meeting 4 January 2012

Minutes of the Post GC Meeting held on 4th January at the Hanover Inn

Present :

Rotarians: GC Chairman Colin Hance, P-E Tony Boddy, P-N David Wells, Neil McCrone, Tony Gould, Trevor Williams, Secretary Denis.

Public: Maria Fowler, Cheryl Thompson, Andy Milne.

Apologies received from Betty Holbrook, Andy Tannock, Wendy Taylor,

Rtns: Andy Fern, Tony Burrows, Andy Mear, Harry Tilley, Rodney Parmenter, Jeff Dunn.

The Minutes of the Pre GC meeting held on 7th September 2011 had been previously circulated and current members of the public were given the opportunity to have a read of them before being accepted as a true copy.

Matters arising:

1. It was noted that not all floats provided four marshals as previously requested.

2. Rotarians to be reminded not to collect if on marshalling duties.

3. Prize giving to be carried out by the R/C President.

4. It was suggested that a prepared script should be made for the speaker in the lead car.

5. Press release to be entered on Harwich GC website as well as Facebook.

6. The P.R.O. to give information to our website co-ordinator and Facebook Admin regarding pre GC coverage.

7. Thanks were given to Maria Fowler for all her help and contributions regarding the

upkeep of information on the Harwich GC web site and for her help and expertise in the publication of photographs for our D1240 magazine.

8. A suggestion was made that more walking groups be invited to take part.

In her absence Wendy Taylor was thanked for her involvement with the Big Heads and a suggested made that these Big Heads could be advertised on a stall at the 2012 Sea Festival

Future of GC: Plans are being put in place to encourage more organisations and businesses to participate.

It was confirmed that the date of the 2012 GC will be 27th October with the pre GC meeting being held on Wednesday 5th September in the Hanover Inn. The Rotary de-brief will be held on 29th October. The public post GC meeting will be held in late November.

Advertising: A comment was made that although the Harwich & Dovercourt High School supported the carnival in 2010 there appeared to be no support in 2011. Advertising the GC at the Sea Festival will be considered by the Rotary Club.

Big Heads: Having the Big Heads in the
