CHARITY RACE NIGHT
On Friday 16th March 2012, the Rotary Clubs of Chester-le-Street, Washington & Washington Forge held a joint Race Night in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care & the Great North Air Ambulance. The venue was the North Biddick Social Club in Bonemill Lane, Washington.
Our thanks to the sponsors of the races, horses and jockeys; and to all those who actually attended the event and made it a success.
On Thursday 26th April 2012, Anna Kirk of Marie Curie Cancer Care, visited the meeting of The Rotary Club of Washington. Anna gave an overview of the history and aims of the organisation and highlighted the various means by which funds are raised. This also afforded an opportunity for a cheque to be presented following the Race Night. Anna explained how this donation would be of benefit to their work and she thanked the 3 Rotary Clubs for this contribution.

On Thursday 3rd May 2012, Rob Colgrave, came along to the Rotary Club of Washington and accepted the cheque on behalf of the Great North Air Ambulance. Such public contributions are vital to maintain the operation of the service and we were assured that the donation will be put to effective use in supporting the GNAA Service in their aims of saving life and suffering 365 days of the year, across the region.
