Club Assembly

The Rotary Club of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane held their annual Club Assembly meeting last week in the Westlands Hotel, Dunblane.
Incoming President Iain Smith explained that his intent was evolution rather than revolution, seeking to build on the many successful events run by the club for both community fellowship and to raise funds for charitable causes.    One area of change is the introduction of three new working parties to look at 'Community Need' (assessing areas that the local club can address to make a difference), 'New Generations' (extending the early initiatives made to work with young people and schools in our area) and 'Information' (for both members and the community).
There is also a buzz building about the new event 'Beat Beethoven' taking place on 21st October.  This fun run will challenge sportsmen and women, joggers, walkers and even relay teams to complete a 5k run or a 2.7k walk in the time taken for Beethovens 5th Symphony to be played.  The web site for this is now up and running at
www.beatbeethoven.co.uk.  The club also acknowledged the retirement of long term members Alex Campbell and George Martin their fellowship and superb work to support charitable causes will be sorely missed.

Visiting Assistant Governor Elect, John Anderson, rounded off the meeting by praising the club for it's wide range of activities, successful recruitment drive and great organisation.   He also shared the new vision for Rotary worldwide of 'Peace Through Service' as extolled by worldwide Rotary International President Sakuji Tanaka.
