Rotary GB&I Committees and Resource Groups News

title-bottom

Welcome to the April 2012 Service News, linking you to news, resources and information from all of Rotary GB&I's Service Committees and Resource Groups. It is emailed, monthly, to all 30,000+ members whose email address is on the Rotary GB&I database. If Club Secretaries are aware of members with an email address, but not on the RI database, please forward to them (and, ideally, add their details to the database.)

Service News editions are archived on the Rotary GB&I website, in the Updates area, and members are no longer required to login to gain access.

If you cannot read this email properly (due to your email settings), click on this link and a web page showing the email as intended will open.

Membership Development & Retention

title-bottom

At this time of the Rotary Year, there can be a tendency to slow down activity as Rotarians start to plan for the year ahead and take the foot off the pedal, coasting towards the year end. We need to use this valuable time to finally turn our plans for the year into reality, otherwise what was the point in making all those plans in the first place?

There are plenty of opportunities and incentives to finally start that new club now. Click to find out more.

Now is also a good time to take advantage of some new flexibility and opportunities to finally recruit some new members. Read about some specific thoughts on Membership Development.

Marketing, PR & Communications

We're for Communities: Items to tie in with the next Public Image/Awareness Campaign, based on the 'We're for Communities' strap line, are now available to order from the New Member Toolkit area of Rotary GB&I Shop. The leaflets are designed to help to make it easier for Rotarians to explain to potential members who we are and what we do.

You can also view the excellent new video and an explanation of the rationale behind the campaign on the Rotary GB&I website.

Urgent priority of polio eradication reaffirmed: At their March meeting, The Rotary Foundation Trustees reaffirmed that polio eradication is the urgent priority of the Foundation, and that continued support for PolioPlus is essential. The Trustees also agreed to continue the match provided to Rotary districts for contributions to PolioPlus: US$0.50 from the Foundation's World Fund for every $1 allocated from the District Designated Fund.

Club locator on Rotary GB&I website: Are your club's details correct and up to date? Venue and address? Day and time? Address and postcode? Link to your own club's website? If not, potential members in particular will not be able to find out about you. You need to inform the Operations team at the Secretariat by email, so that they can correct errors. The search facility is only as good as the information you provide.

Rotary GB&I Forum: Got something on your mind? Looking for some advice from fellow Rotarians across Rotary GB&I? Or simply want to discuss a topic with like-minded people? Take a look at the new Rotary GB&I Forum. It's pretty empty at the moment, as it's only been in test mode, but it's now ready for you to use.

If you have any great stories and pictures of your Stroke Awareness Day events or Spring Clean activities, please send them to Rebecca Warner, Rotary GB&I PR Officer. These could be featured on the Rotary GB&I website or used for further publicity. rebeccaw@ribi.org
