Shoe Box Appeal

Shoe Box Appeal with pictures

The Rotary Club of Astley have supported the Rotary Shoebox Scheme for many years. The scheme is whereby a gift of a shoebox that contains toys, toiletries, educational items or household goods is made to people in several of the poorer eastern European countries. For many, it will be the first present that they have ever received and it lets them know that someone, somewhere cares about them.

The attached pictures show the latest batch of shoeboxes that have been collected by Year 10 pupils at Bedford High School. The boxes have been formally handed over to Derek Ratcliffe, President of the Rotary Club of Astley, for onward transmission to deserving recipients in eastern Europe. In turn, Derek is handing over a certificate of appreciation to a Year 10 pupil.
