TERRY MARSH WORLD CHAMPION WELTER WEIGHT BOXER

Terry Marsh, an East Ender through and through, and champion Welter Weight boxer paid a visit to Hornchurch & Upminster Rotary Club in mid-August to give Club members a needed boost to improve their physical fitness by hearing from Terry, a very dapper 51 year old, how he achieved this figure and vigour which would have a man half Terry's age gasping.  And gasping is what the Rotarians did on hearing from Terry how he climbed the slippery pole to fame, by his own efforts.  Starting boxing when he was a thin 10 or 11 year old, he quickly realised, that school bullies regularly go for lads who look small and defenceless, can only be repelled by giving the bullies as good as you can -  and in Terry's case - better, for receiving a straight punch from Terry really hurt, and the bullies quickly backed away.  So it was literally from the school of hard knocks that Terry went on the trail to national and international success - and at the same time began studying for a degree in politics. At London Metropolitan University.  So enthralled were the Rotarians that they immediately demanded the Terry revisit them - so watch this space for more about the East End wonder..
