Visit to the North of England Mining Institute

The Projects Committee arranged a visit to the The North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers at Neville Hall in Westgate Road, Newcastle.


Neville Hall is a Grade II* listed building and home of the North of England Mining Institute. Details may be seen on their website

We had an interesting tour, led by Bill Bell, President of the Mining Institute (NEIMME). Bill came to our Club in October last and gave a talk on the "Miners Lamp". His comprehensive knowledge and enthusiasm for the work of the Institute made this a very interesting visit to an institution that was influential in the development of engineering throughout the world.
