Burnham Beeches 10k Run 2012

Report on the 2012 event

The latest race, of what is now an annual Autumn event, was held on 20th October 2012.

Set in the magnificent woodland of Burnham Beeches this is a unique opportunity to take part in a testing 10K run organised by the Rotary Club of Burnham Beeches with proceeds from the race going to local Rotary charities. The weather this year was dull, foggy, and it was very damp and slippery underfoot, but fortunately the 215 registered entries completed the course without injury.

As far as as our Club was concerned, this year's event had the added spice given that two of our members were in serious competion with each other in the race. Members ran a sweepstake of who of President Ian Griffith or the younger upstart Rtn Ray Dance would produce the faster finish.  President Ian is the veteran of several London Marathons, but on this occasion the younger man prevailed. The photos at the end of the slideshow above shows that despite their competive natures good, fellowship prevailed in the end.
The results will be found on the race website www.burnhambeechesrun.co.uk .
