Polio Eradication -

"Purple Pinkie" is a joint project with RC of Walkden and schools in Worsley, Walkden, Little Hulton & Swinton. Pupils typically donate £1 and have their little finger marked with a purple vegetable dye as happens when a child is actually vaccinated.

In 1988, the World Health Organization, Rotary International, UNICEF & the U.S. Centers for Disease Control passed the  
Global Polio Eradication Initiative. In 1988 there were 35,251 cases.
cases. To Oct 2013 there were 312 reported cases.
