Sep 2013 Speaker - RYLA candidate Adil Kholkhar

Mon, Sep 16th 2013 at 6:15 pm - 7:30 pm

The clubs RYLA candidate for 2013 will tell us about his experiences on the course. Speaker host-J Helmsing

Our speaker for the evening was Adil Kholkhar (18yrs old) who is just about to embark on a four year degree course based at Lincoln University for the first and last year and abroad, including China, for the middle 2 years. He has just had first hand experience of the 2013 RYLA week at Graffham Water and told us all about what happened and what impact the experience has had on him.

President Bob Sadler presented Adil with his RYLA Certificate.

The 41 students from around the region were randomly split into bedrooms of 4. Their very busy schedule included a wide variety of sports, Initiative and team tasks, a night walk around the lake and an overnight camp. The trainers were looking for quick thinking and effective responses and gave extremely good feedback to individuals as well as the group. Adil says he has made really good friends and learnt a lot about himself and how he relates to others and is really grateful for the opportunity that our club sponsorship made possible.

Robin Wraight, the RYLA District organiser this year, confirmed that this years RYLA experience went very well from his perspective too and a promotional vodeo is now being created. He has also been in touch with Suffolk police who are keen for their recruits to benefit from RYLA if possible.
