Interact Club Visit

On the 23rd of September a group of students from Llantwit Major Comprehensive School paid a visit to the town's Rotary Club.  Interact clubs for young people have been established by Rotary in many parts of the world including Britain and Ireland.  They encourage groups to engage in useful activities in the community for the benefit of others.  The Interact Club in Llantwit Major is school based and is open to years twelve and thirteen.  Last year it grew to become the largest such club in Britain and ended the year with a hugely successful Peace Conference held at the school.  The new team for this year was headed by Elly Jenkins following an invitation from Rotary President, Christine James.

The two clubs enjoyed a buffet supper together at the West House Hotel where the visitors had an opportunity of chatting to Rotarians about their plans for the year.  The students will be taking their A level examinations at the end of the academic year with hopes of progressing to universities and other higher education colleges.  Christine James wished the group every success for their programme of event and would keep in touch with them through Rotary representative Don Carsley.  The Interact Club meets in the Senior Block at the school every Thursday at 10.45 am.
