Boat Race at Eton Dorney - 2013

 BOAT  RACE at ETON DORNEY

The weather on Sunday 30th June  was splendid, the occasion was first class and those present thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  The Interactor clubs from the Royal Grammar school (RGS) and Princes Risborough school (PRS) took part and were excellent ambassadors for our Rotary organisation and their respective schools. Both teams paid in their charity money to the Rotary Club of High Wycombe,  much of which will be donated to the Air Ambulance.

The PRS Interactors came 21st out of 35 teams and on the final score board they were only fractions of a second between them and the 10 teams above them. Therefore it is congratulations to President Connell and his team of 10 Interactors, as a mixed gender team they did remarkably well.  Both interact club teams did well in the preliminary rounds with PRS soundly beating RGS. Their headmaster took part as drum beater but retired thereafter having lost his decorated mortarboard over the side. Then with super human efforts RGS lads, ably led by  President Bertie, qualified for the final and  then went on to achieve second place overall in the competition and were only one second behind the winners. It was all very close and very exciting but a special congratulation goes to Bertie and his team for such an inspired final achievement.

However, the true winning  experience was gained gained from taking part in coordinated teams at an exciting, challenging event, and at the same time raising crucial charity funds.   The Rotary club of Princes Risborough wish to thank all the Interactors for their sterling Charity Work.
