Visit to Gunby Hall

Visit to Gunby Hall, Wednesday 21st August

A GROUP of Horncastle Rotarians and their guests were treated to a private tour of National Trust property Gunby Hall near Skegness on Wednesday 21st August.

It was a glorious evening with a beautiful sunset viewed from the hall, built in 1700 by Sir William Massingberd.

Property manager Astrid Gatenby showed the party round and gave everyone an insight into the history of the hall which was gifted to the National Trust in 1944, saving it from demolition for an airfield extension. However members of the family continued to live in the hall until 1967.
