Young Musician competition

Instrumentalists competed for a place in the District Final of the Young Musician competition.


Cowbridge Comprehensive School was the venue on the evening of Thursday 5th November for the Rotary area 8 final of the young musician (instrumentalist) competition, which was organised by the Rotary club of Llantwit Major. The audience of friends, families and Rotarians from both Llantwit Major and Cowbridge clubs was treated to a marvellous evening of music from local young people ranging in age from 13 to 18. Ioan Wardhaugh had 2 entries, firstly playing on the Celtic harp Genlivet by Kim Robertson and Corcona by Ortiz. His second entry was playing on the piano I am the Doctor by Murray Gold and Nuvole Bianche by Ludovico Einaudi. Matthew Upcott played the clarinet concerto 3rd movement by Anton Dimler then Poulenc's clarinet sonata 2nd movement. Flautist Olivia Chester played Berceuse by Faur
