Rotary Shelter Box on Display

The Rotary club displayed a Shelter Box at the turning on of the Llantwit Major Christmas lights. Shelter boxes are emergency relief kits sent to areas where there have been disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes.


At the Llantwit Major Christmas Lights festivities on Saturday 30th November, members from the Rotary Club demonstrated a Shelter Box to the many locals and visitors present. Shelterbox is the product of an international charity founded in 2000 in the Cornish Town of Helston. With support from Rotary International and its network of Rotary clubs, the charity has been able to provide emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters, at the time when they need it the most. Since the year 2000 Shelterbox has responded to over two hundred natural or manmade disasters in around ninety countries. The shelter box contains a range of equipment such as blankets, groundsheets, water storage and filtration equipment, cooking utensils, a basic tool kit, a children
