Our group was invited to visit "DREAM CENTRE" which was initiated by R/Anne Kanta & Rtn. Gul Hinduja as they were visiting the Ganeshpuri Temple since last 50 years. They found that there is a need for better education in the area, which is surrounded by Adivasi's and underprivileged Farmers. There are children who are walking 5 to 10kms barefoot to visit primary school and for younger children no educational facilities and hence to fulfil the need, Dream Centre was established and inaugurated with the help and support of RCBC under the leadership of President Apurva Shah.
Initially the school is catering to small children between the age group of 3 to 6 years. After few months, elder children's from class I to class VI started learning English and Basic Computers.
Within six months of running the school, we received request from many nearby schools to allow them to attain our English speaking and writing classes and Basic Computer Classes. We found great progress with their grown up kids with most modern method of teaching.
The mother's of students realized, that it is good opportunity for them to learn English and Computer, since all education at Dream Centre is free of cost. Now we have a batch of students mother's as well.
On Feb 22, 2014 Dream Centre celebrated First Annual Day and we have awarded 44 certificates to students and their mothers who completed the Computer course under the hands of our sister club Battersea Park, London.
Our teachers are also visiting three schools in the nearby area to upgrade the teachings of spoken English and basic Computers. Dream Centre is also focusing on basic hygiene & organic farming around the buildings.
The school also has Vocational Guidance and students from neighbouring school and college are coming to take our help, guidance, sending them for training to various industries and absorb them for the permanent jobs.
In the next 12 months our programme is to double number of teachers and students as there is a great vacuum of educating these children in Ganeshpuri Area.
As part of our programmed visit, we went Sarthak and Sundatta Schools
We also visited the village of Palghar, where we had installed Solar lighting, but on this occasion we presented them with a Sewing Machine.
While we were in India Rotarian Michael was asked to participant in breaking ground for a new school room in Karjat.
